Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) had to shut down power in flooded areas in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces as heavy rain continued to pour on Luzon.
For safety reasons, circuits in the cities of Parañaque and Las Piñas and in some parts of Cavite and Laguna were switched off.
Customers are asked to switch off the main switch in their respective houses once they see floods rise. Meralco switches off main circuits only in last minute to minimize inconvenience in business operations in the area.
WARNING: Water and particularly sea-water is an excellent electrical conductor. Switch off your main breaker before it is too late and you and your family may get electrical shocks. Electrical shocks can be deadly especially in wet conditions.
