Manila NAIA Chaos continues with monster delays and cancellations
The main runway 06/24 is still closed. Only planes up to the size of an Airbus A320 or a Boeing B 373 can operate on runway 13/31. But this runway has other restrictions:
NOTAM B3845/18 – RWY13 LDG OPS SUSPENDED DUE TAILWIND COND. RWY31 AVBL FOR TKOF ONLY.
This means that runway 13 cannot accept landings because of tailwind and runway 31 is only available for take-offs. Just now we observe PAL flight PR1810 circling between Laguna and lake Taal. They wait for the availability of runway 13/31 for landing. This flight is already 3 hours delayed. Watch yourself:
Current average delay delays for landing is 134 minutes. For take-off they are 87 minutes. But delays of more than 3 hours still occur.
When will NAIA again be fully operational?
Just now at 11:46 PST the first plane took-off from RWY 06/24
