Happy Birthday – 75 Years “LIFE”

Nikita Khrushchev Meets Iowa Farmers

LIFE! One of the best publications the USA ever brought to our planet is celebrating its 75th birtday.

Fortunately my dentist had been a fan of the USA and read American newspapers. Waiting to be tortured, I read “LIFE”. There were always the newest stories, the newest pictures. The dentist could wait. Thanks Kurt.

Especially the pictures were simply the best of the best. LIFE’s photographers were in the hot-spots and knew how to take photos.

I still have a copy of “LIFE” from July 69 with the photos of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin on the moon and Michael Collins running around and waiting.

The picture of “LIFE” I like most, is this one:

Nikita Khrushchev Meets Iowa Farmers

Nikita Chruchtchew, visiting the USA – A farmer who loves crops. But the US did not understand – do they understand now?

“LIFE” does not exist anymore. At its best time it had been sold 13.5 million copies per week. But first television killed the actuality and then the Internet boom rolled up news-reporting in print medias. But since 2008 Google offers all the back-issues on http://www.life.com/ Link

Sometimes auntie “Google” is really lovely.
Keep your eyes open – reading is good, living is better. Wink
