Philippines Domestic Sea Transportation |
There are various types of boats, ships and ferries in the Philippines. The smallest ones, the bancas, bankas or pump-boats are built of wood and do not have a regular schedule. You will have to ask for a boat in the port or at the beach. In tourist spots like Boracay, there are very frequent routes and the prices are fixed. |
In other places you may hire a boat for a whole day (think of PHP 2000). Scheduled ferries are available anywhere in the Philippines. They run on planned schedules and offer different classes: from the aircon "Admiral Suite" down to the "Backpacker Class". 'Admiral' is good for honeymoon. 'Backpacker' is fine to meet people. |
We recommend to get more information in the next port. Timetables and schedules are changing too often. Ticket outlets can be found in town or even in your hotel. Look for the stickers and agent agreements of the shipping companies. We only publish companies with on-line timetables. |
